~ Thurs, Aug 4, 7pm, La Pirata~
Hosted and organized by resident designers Silvia Hennebo (Utila Fashion) and Rachel Lainez (Origami Customs), Utila saw its first Fashion Show on Thursday, Aug 4.
The fashion show was at La Pirata Bar and Restaurant, with drink and food specials. Familes and kids were welcomed. There was a great turnout- letting folks come out and enjoy something new while supporting local designers~
This show was a community event, done with the help of many volunteers: models, hair/makeup people, door people, general help, setup, and marketing.

About the Designers:
Sylvia and Rachel live on island and are available for custom creation for you and very reasonable prices! No doubt we will be seeing future fahion shows too~
Sylvia Hennebo: “Resident since 2003, French native made her first Fashion Show after 4 years of taking on sewing. Previously working as a Dive Instructor for a few years on Utila, she picked up sewing about 4 years ago. Her inspiration for designing came about as she realized people on the island had to take trips to the mainland to buy clothes so she decided to respond to the demand and make some herself. Without any previous sewing experience she bought fabric and a sewing machine and followed the instructions. Starting by replicating an easy traveling trousers pattern and selling, she also started to repair people´s clothing to earn a living. Gaining confidence and getting bored of doing the same simple things she started to make up garments and from then on there were no end to the extent of the imagination of designs.” Contacts: Sylviadream@hotmail.com
