Advocating against the Honduras Airport Exit Tax Increase:
The Honduras Airport Exit Tax is expected to increase to $60 usd per person as of January 1. An editorial from Honduras Weekly with details on this increase is here: https://www.hondurasweekly.com/hiking-the-airport-exit-fee-is-lunacy–201112164580/
There are many concerns with this increase, not only for tourism, but more so for how it will affect volunteer and medical groups coming to Honduras.
Below is a post from Marco, Editor of Honduras Weekly and major advocate of volunteer and medical teams and their work in Honduras with his group, Project Honduras., asking for input and comments regarding this increase so he can try and advocate against it.
Please direct any comments directly to him.

Hi everyone,
Several people have already responded regarding the upcoming increase in the airport exit fee, from the current $37 to $60. See https://www.honduras
If you wish to express your views and concerns about how this increase will impact your travel plans to Honduras, please feel free to e-mail me at editor@hondurasweek
I would like to see the increase repealed. Frankly, I would like to take this even further and have the airport exit tax completely eliminated for foreign volunteer workers.
Your full name, organization, and city/state would be helpful, as would the number of times you and your teams (plus the size of your teams) visit Honduras each year. Mention whether or not the tax increase would discourage you from continuing your work in Honduras. You get the idea.
Thanks,
Marco
