Friday Sept 16, 7pm at BICA: “Plastic Planet”: Showing of Documentary and Discussion:Cleaning, Recycling and Reusing in Utila. “Plastic Planet: Documentary by Werner Boote” is an insightful journey around the globe to present the up-close and personal view of the controversial and fascinating material that has found its way into every facet of our daily lives: plastic. Discussion follows after on how to Reduce, Recycle and Reuse locally. This is a great opportunity for tourists, expats, locals, families- EVERYONE to learn more about the issue of plastic and what can be done. 16thof September, 7 pm at BICA (Bay Islands Conservation Association) office- just up the road from Mango Inn.
Sept 17: 1pm at BICA: Beach Clean up at Pumpkin Hill; Introduction to Turtle Nest Monitoring. Join in a beach Clean-up of Pumpkin Hill Beach. This is an area of turtle nesting activity, and very important to keep these areas clean for Utila wildlife. Collected waste will also be separated into plastic recycling and also the lids recovered and collected for a colurful artistic mural project coming to the island Meeting at BICA at 1pm for a 40 min walk through the hardwood forest of Utila
