Utila, Live!

The first music festival of its kind to be held in Utila at Bando Beach on Saturday 13th from 3pm until the early  hours of the morning.

Deemed a ‘new concept for Live Music on the island’ by the organizers, due to the variety of different live    performances from artists descending from different genres. The acts range from Classic Rock to Rap and Heavy    Metal to Blues. There will also be a DJ spinning Rock, Indie, Punk, Metal, Hip Hop and Funk on vinyl to keep  energy levels high and the dance floor buzzing late into the night.

Utila, Live!                  Line-up of Musicians:

  RONNIE HARRIS (Blues and Metal)

  NAUSEA (Hip Hop / Rap)

  ALEX RENAUD (Indie)

  THE BAREFOOT BAND (Classic Rock)

   SANTI (DJ)

18.000 WATTS PEAVEY SOUND + PSYCHO LASER SHOW with Laser Master RUDY

When asked about why they decided to organize a festival of this kind on Utila, one of the  event organizers, Ryan Rother (owner of Skid Row Bar and Restaurant), replied: “We did  this out of a need for diversity in music. The late night parties almost always feature  reggaeton or techno (music), and the only band that consistently plays live (in Utila) is the  Barefoot Band. This Saturday is a “test run” to determine if others feel the same way. We  intend to take the pulse of the island after the event to gauge whether or not this truly was a  refreshing, unique experience for Utila.”

This venue will be held at Utila’s Private Bando Beach, across the bridge on the point. The  soft white sand and shallow water will over a refreshing way to stay cool throughout the afternoon and a place for the younger and young-at-heart can play. Many palm and coconut trees will offer shade throughout the afternoon until the sun goes down.
“We are holding the event at Bando Beach in part because we want it to be family friendly. Kids 12 and under are free and we have live music starting at 5pm so families can enjoy some of the show as well”, explained Rother.
Bando Beach is equipped with full bar offering cold drinks. The area is scattered with lounge chairs and there are clean bathroom facilities available. There will also be ‘festival food’ for sale such as chicken or sausage on a stick, corn dogs, pulled pork sandwiches and hot dogs.
If this event is successful, it is the hope of the organizers to make Utila, Live an annual festival. “We do hope to make this a yearly event, aiming for the Saturday before Semana Santa with the idea being that we can draw more tourists to the island for the holiday earlier in the week which would benefit everyone. We would like to bring performers from all genres to Utila to really achieve diversity. “
